February
25, 1996 -- Colonial Half-Marathon, Williamsburg, VA.
From the Colonial Half Marathon -- My
first try at the distance...here you can see I'm leaning into the last
corner on the course - a 90 degree right-hander on the sidewalk(!)
into the William and Mary Arena. I finished in 2:00:40...just
missing my sub-2:00 goal.

August
2, 1996 - Fairmount Park 1/2 Ironman, Philadelphia, PA
Here it is. This is the Genesis of all you've
read, seen, and heard about between Eric Weiss and I...it all started
with a random meeting of two guys struggling to finish the run at The
Fairmount Park Half Ironman. I didn't catch his name, he was just
some skinny guy from Pittsburgh...but we plodded along for the better
part of 7 miles just trying to finish. Little did we know that
this was only the start!
(Yes
- This is just a proof - I waited too long to order the real
picture! If you can't tell, Eric is on the left...)

September
7, 1996 -- New England Triathlon Festival
A cool sequence from the Sunapee Long Course Race - I
can't tell if I'm wincing or smiling in that last one...but I like I my
moods change as the day wears on. This was a weird race: 1 Mile
Swim, 44 Mile Bike, 9 Mile Run.

May
17, 1997 -- The Columbia Triathlon
This
is just out of T2, headed down the short downhill stretch before the
switchback of doom - a 160 degree switchback up a 12% grade path.
I'm not really sure what I was thinking about or looking at, but I
remember that the woman to my left was desperately looking for a place
to, ahem, "go." |
